01. Introduction
This Cookie Policy describes the small amount of browser storage used by the Lucky Moose Inn website and explains how visitor choices work. The name is familiar, but our current implementation does not create a collection of first-party HTTP cookies. Instead, two localStorage entries remember the 19+ age confirmation and your consent preferences. The distinction matters because different browser technologies behave differently. The site includes no analytics tags, marketing pixels or advertising networks. Its contact form also does not transmit completed enquiries.
02. What Are Cookies?
Cookies are small pieces of information that a website may ask a browser to store and return with later requests to the same service. They can help a website keep a session active, remember a setting or measure how pages are used. Not all cookies serve the same purpose, and different organizations may place them for different reasons. Cookies can be temporary or remain until their expiration date, depending on the technology and browser. This particular site does not intentionally set its own HTTP cookies.
03. How Cookies Work
A browser decides whether and how to store information according to its settings, security features and applicable privacy restrictions. A server can send a cookie in a response header, while scripts can sometimes create cookies through browser APIs. LocalStorage is different: it provides key-value storage attached to a website origin, accessible to JavaScript on later visits. Stored items are not automatically attached to each network request. Our static JavaScript reads the age and cookie-preference entries to decide whether to show the age gate or consent banner again.
04. Essential Cookies
Essential technology supports functions needed for a usable experience, such as remembering a visitor's access and privacy choices. In this site, the essential records are two localStorage keys rather than conventional cookies. The adult confirmation flag prevents repetitive age gates after a visitor has confirmed being 19 or older. The consent preference record prevents a repetitive cookie banner and allows the settings dialog to reflect previous choices. These records do not contain a name, email address or phone number.
05. Functional Cookies
Functional cookies or comparable technologies are sometimes used to remember language, display settings and features selected by a visitor. A Functional Cookies switch is offered in our preferences dialog so that the interface can support future functional options consistently. In the current site, selecting that category merely records the choice in localStorage. There are no additional functional-cookie scripts to activate or deactivate. The dropdown menu, accordions and contact form validation operate directly in the browser without installing functional tracking.
06. Analytics Cookies
Analytics cookies are often used to understand visitor numbers, page interactions and performance trends. They may be first-party or installed by an independent measurement provider. No analytics library, traffic measurement pixel or analytics cookie is included in the supplied Lucky Moose Inn files. If a visitor chooses the Analytics Cookies category, the selection is recorded as a preference only; it does not start behavioural measurement.
07. Marketing Cookies
Marketing cookies can support advertising measurement, audience segmentation or cross-site recognition. The present site does not contain retargeting pixels, advertising tags, social media tracking scripts or a third-party marketing-cookie integration. Its Marketing Cookies switch therefore stores a preference but does not activate anything. That approach avoids suggesting that unseen advertising services are running.
08. First-Party Cookies
First-party cookies are typically placed by the site a visitor is using. The Lucky Moose Inn code does not call document.cookie and does not send Set-Cookie headers, because it is a static website package rather than an application server. Its two localStorage records are first-party browser data, which remain associated with the website's own origin. The site's behaviour can be checked in ordinary browser developer tools.
09. Third-Party Cookies
An embedded or externally loaded service may use browser technologies that are outside the website owner's direct control. The site uses Google Fonts when a connection is available and offers Google Maps for exploring the three destination cities. Loading those providers may involve technical requests and provider-specific storage subject to browser controls. The map is an external service, and its content may change independently of our site. The site does not install advertising content or social-media embeds.
10. Local Storage
LocalStorage stores small pieces of text within a browser origin and persists across sessions unless cleared. Two keys are used here: lm_age_verified, whose value is true after an adult confirms the age gate, and lm_cookie_consent, a JSON object recording essential, analytics, functional and marketing preference categories together with an update date. The records have no built-in expiration timer; they remain until cleared or overwritten. Neither key stores an enquiry message.
11. Consent
The first time an eligible visitor enters the site, an age gate appears before the cookie banner. After age confirmation, a visitor can accept all categories, reject optional categories or open the detailed preferences dialog. A saved decision is reflected on later visits where browser storage is available. Optional categories are not installed technologies in this version, so accepting them does not create cookies or tracking requests. Consent should be meaningful, informed and changeable.
12. Managing Preferences
To make a change, select Cookie Preferences in the footer of any page or Manage Cookie Preferences below. The dialog displays the always-active essential category and three optional switches. Choose the settings you prefer and select Save Preferences. The website updates the lm_cookie_consent record immediately. You can reject every optional category while still reading destination information and navigating the site. These settings control the local preference record; they are not a substitute for managing cookies that unrelated external websites may set in your browser.
13. Cookie Duration
The site does not set a numerical cookie expiration because the two first-party records are localStorage values without a built-in expiry date. They persist until removed by browser controls, a privacy feature, a manual clear operation or a future code change. The preference object includes a date identifying the configuration version; that date is not an automatic deletion timer. When navigating with private or incognito browsing, storage may disappear when the session closes.
14. Browser Settings
Modern browsers usually provide tools to inspect and clear website data, block third-party cookies and restrict storage in private windows. Depending on your browser, look under Privacy, Security, Site Settings or Website Data. Removing information associated with luckymooseinn.com will reset the recorded adult confirmation and consent choices. If the site is opened locally as a file, storage rules vary between browsers, and settings may not carry between all local pages. Clearing storage will not delete information already handled by a separate email provider or an external site.
15. Disabling Cookies
If you block cookies or localStorage, the public HTML content and navigation should remain broadly accessible, but some convenience features may reset on each visit. In particular, the age-confirmation dialog and cookie manager may not remember a previous choice. The browser-only contact form can still validate fields during the current visit if JavaScript is enabled. The site does not require an advertising cookie to load its core content. External maps may behave differently under strict privacy settings.
16. Policy Updates
This description reflects the website package dated 2 November 2026. Introducing a booking tool, analytics provider, customer account, payment processor or advertising service would materially change the inventory and could change the consent requirements. Before enabling such features, the owner should identify every cookie and localStorage key, classify its purpose, note whether it is first-party or third-party and record a realistic duration. It should then update the policy and preference controls so they match the operating site.
17. Contact Information
If you would like clarification about the technologies described here, contact [email protected] or call +1 (416) 555-0159, subject to confirmation of those operating contact details by the site owner. Questions about Google-hosted content should be directed to Google using its published privacy resources. Questions about the browser's treatment of cookies and localStorage may be answered in its help documentation. The Privacy Policy provides additional information about personal data, voluntary correspondence, security and Canadian legal context.
